File:  BE - SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETINGS

The School Committee will transact all business at official meetings of the Committee.  These may be either regular or special meetings, defined as follows:

1. Regular meeting:  the usual official legal action meeting, held regularly

2. Special meeting:  an official legal action meeting called between scheduled regular meetings to consider specific topics.

Every meeting of the School Committee, regular or special, will be open to the public unless an executive session is held in accordance with state law.

The School Committee will meet in regular session at least once each month, on the first (and if necessary on the third) Tuesdays, and will schedule other official meetings and Committee meetings as are needed. The Superintendent of Schools, in June, will establish a 12-month calendar of School Committee meetings. Once adopted, this calendar will be changed only by a majority vote of the Committee except in case of an emergency when the Committee Chairman will be permitted to make a change.

Meeting times and place:

At the same time during the month of June of each year, the Committee will adopt a resolution specifying a regular meeting time of the Committee. Such resolution will specify the regular hour for commencement of the meeting, the day of the week, and the week of the month. Such resolution will also provide that if the regular meeting day occurs on any day when administrative offices are closed, such regular meeting will be held on the following day, commencing at the same hour. Such resolution will also specify the regular meeting place and may specify that any regular meeting may be adjourned to another time and place.
